The PADI Rescue Diver Course teaches not only to look at the bigger picture but more importantly gives you the knowledge and skills to assist others plus spot potential issues before they become a problem.

This course is great for your own benefit as a recreational diver, or might be a step in stone from the recreational diver to your first professional level as a PADI Divemaster. The course is spread over three exciting days and is packed with great knowledge and diving skills. You will spend the best part of one day in the classroom, unless you would like to opt for eLearning, prior to arriving in Menorca. There are videos to watch and knowledge development sections in the Rescue Course’s dedicated manual need completing. Finally, there is, as always, a final exam. Then we move on to the wet bit, where you will learn among many other things:

  • To demonstrate skills from the Self-Rescue Review in confined or open water
  • Spot possible causes of diver emergencies
  • Accident management
  • Identifying a diver in need
  • Common equipment problems
  • Diver rescue procedures
  • First Aid and injury treatment
  • Missing diver procedures
  • In/Out water rescue skills
  • To demonstrate skills from Rescue Exercises 1 to 10 in open water.
  • Participate in Rescue Scenarios in open water.
  • And finally, prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for a dive site.

During the course, you will as well experience and get to use First aid kits, oxygen unit, pocket masks, floats, marker buoys, CPR mannequins etc. Trust me when I say that this course is one you have been waiting for and you will thoroughly enjoy it.

How’s my day looking?

A typical day starts at 09:00 and finishes around 17:00 with one hour break for lunch, usually between 13:00 till 14:00. You can bring your own lunch or enjoy your lunch break at one of the restaurants in S’Algar. Please understand that all time is approximate, as each course has his own dynamics.

So, Can I do it?

  • You need to hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification or similar.
  • You will need to be 12 years of age or old on the first day of the course.
  • You will also need a First Aid Certificate that is either less than 2 years old or has been renewed in the last 2 years. We recommend the PADI Emergency First Responder (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care with CPR Course.

  • Swimwear and if you have one of those swim caps with flowers that would be nice.
  • Towel
  • Beef sandwich with English mustard on crusty white bread sandwich for your Instructor
  • Manual, bring your PADI Academic material every day
  • The medical certificate or letter from your doctor.
  • Packed lunch or funds to enjoy lunch at our preferred restaurant in S’Algar, the Pirata.
  • Like all training courses, courses are paid for but certification is earnt.

As mention above this course forms the final step in stone between you and your first step on the Professional ladder. The next step after this course is the PADI Divemaster Course.
